DANG RSV!!!

Yes, we caught RSV! After being so good and not leaving the house for 6 weeks, fearing that she would be exposed, she got it. The first time that we took her out of the house she caught it. We took her over to Lyman a week ago for her blessing and came home with it. She started sleeping more than usual, so I quickly jumped on that and took her to her doctor. We were told that she had it, but that it wasn't too bad. We were sent home to do breathing treatments. After two days of that, she kind of stopped breathing in the night. I heard her gasp, and I jumped out of bed. When I got to her cradle, she was really stuggling to breath. I didn't sleep at all that night. I just held her to make sure she didn't stop breathing. First thing Monday morning, I took her straight in to her doctor. She said that it was really bad now, and they were going to admit her into the hospital. At this point, I lost it. I felt so bad because we had been so careful with her. Anyway, after we got her to the hospital, they couldn't find any veins to put the I.V. in, except for the ones in her head. How sad is that?! After two completely sleepless nights, they released her on Wednesday morning. She still isn't breathing very well on her own, so they sent her home with oxygen. After we got home, they came and hooked up the oxygen for us. It was about an hour later, as I was holding her, that I felt her go completely limp. I tried to wake her up, but she wouldn't. I pulled the tubes from her nose to feel if any air was coming out. Nothing came out! I quickly grabbed the single oxygen tank and hooked her straight up to that. She caught her breath and was better. Come to find out, the man who hooked up the machine did it wrong and part of it was broken! So, basically for an hour, we were just plugging her nose! Honestly, you would think they would test these things before they left. Silly me for assuming that the oxygen man would know how to hook up the oxygen. I am just so glad that I was holding her and that she wasn't in her crib when she went limp! So, as you can see, things have been quite crazy for us this past week. I believe that I have maybe gotten a total of 7 hours of sleep this entire week. (One may wonder why in the heck I am on the computer right now. So to that I say, "You try to sleep when your baby is on an oxygen machine that just yesterday wasn't working properly.") I am completely exhausted, and to be honest with you, I am not quite sure what I am running on. Is it the food? Oh, wait have I been eating? I don't even have time to think about food right now! I just keep running around on energy, the source of which is entirely unknown to me. Anya, however, seems to be doing a little better. She still is having a hard time keeping her O2 levels up while she is sleeping. So, we have to constantly mointor her levels to make sure she is getting enough. She has a doctors appointment tomorrow, so we will she what they think. I am pretty sure she will be on oxygen at least through the end of the week. I just want this week to end! So to all you mothers out there...DON'T TAKE YOUR BABIES OUT OF THE HOUSE!!! Our little Anya has been a trooper through all of it. She has been very happy, considering she has tubes coming out of her head, nose, and feet. So I guess I have learned my first lesson from her: "Mom, just grin and bear it!"

Oh my gosh, Em! That sounds awful, I'm so sorry. I would have been in hysterics too, and definitely wouldn't have been able to sleep! I hope she gets better soon, and I hope you get some sleep and some food!

I'm so sorry that you all have to go through is!
It was wonderful to see you yesterday-your little girl is too precious and I can't believe how good you are doing-considering all you have been through.
When this all passes and she is a little older-i'm serious, come down for a break!! My house is yours--you could use some time for a girls outing!

Ahh, what a scary time. That is so sad to see her all hooked up and tubed. I hope she starts getting better very soon, for your sake too! Eat some food.

Oh my word Em, I didn't realize how bad she was. I hope she gets feeling better... Matt and I looked at these pictures and just can't imagine what it would be like to go through seeing your baby like that. Hang in there girly it will only get better! :) We can't wait to see you guys next week... (I am ready to have another female around for a few days.) Oh, and congrats on the new job!
